In 1961, Daniel Miju left Sidamo to found a coffee and set a farm in the forests of Worka Chalbesa, near Gedeb. Over the years, he started a large family, and after his death, his land was divided among his children, including Alemayehu Daniel, who today grows some of the finest coffee in the Gedeo region of southern Ethiopia on over 10 hectares.
Although each brother manages his own plot, they maintain a close relationship, supporting each other during critical stages of the harvest.
This strong sense of community also becomes especially important each harvest when the farm creates jobs, thus boosting the local economy, or when they contribute to local infrastructure by participating in the construction of roads and schools.
During harvest season, Alemayehu hires 40-60 people to ensure ripe cherries are picked on time. He personally makes sure the cleaning is top-notch before its drying process in canopies for several days. Until he takes it to Gedeb for future exportation.Region
